Facilis Gives European Debut to TerraBlock Version 7.0 Shared Storage System at IBC 2017
Customer wins highlight growing market share in US and international markets
HUDSON, MA (July 5, 2017) – At IBC 2017, Facilis (Booth 7.B40), a leading international supplier of cost-effective, high performance shared storage solutions for collaborative media production networks, will showcase the new Version 7.0 TerraBlock Shared Storage Systems for the first time in Europe. Included within Version 7.0 is the new Facilis Hub Server, a performance aggregator that can be added to new and existing TerraBlock systems, and a new browser-based, mobile compatible Web Console that delivers enhanced workflow and administration from any connected location.
The latest version of TerraBlock spotlights those broadcasters and facilities that are seeking to grow their enterprise operations on a limited CapEx budget. With ever increasing media file sizes, and 4K, HDR and VR workflows continually putting pressure on facility infrastructure, the Facilis Hub Server is aimed at future-proofing customers’ current storage and offering the most powerful new systems available. The Facilis Hub Server uses a new architecture to optimize drive sets and increase the bandwidth available from standard TerraBlock storage systems. In addition to this, with the new Hub Server, Facilis will also be shipping 12Gb SSD systems that are the fastest shared storage systems in the smallest form factor available.
The new Facilis Web Console increases the efficiency of administrative tasks as well as improving end-user experiences. The modernized browser-based and mobile-compatible interface delivers enhanced functionality and removes barriers to creativity. With this new functionality, Facilis customers enjoy dynamic bandwidth monitoring and server performance reporting in a unified system dashboard.
The latest enhancement to Facilis’ FastTracker system is also being shown at IBC as part of the all new Version 7.0. Fast Tracker is designed for cataloging, searching and viewing media types within Facilis Shared Storage, including all major QuickTime, MP4 and MXF codecs, along with DPX and TARGA image sequences, to name a few.
“This year at IBC, we are excited to be bringing new solutions to Europe for the first time where we have not produced such a quantum progression in performance with a single release before. We had a fantastic show at NAB and can’t wait to build on that success at IBC,’’ says James McKenna VP of Marketing and Pre Sales at Facilis.
European sales signpost strong international growth
Going into IBC, Facilis has announced a number of major new customer wins. For example, the company has installed a large-scale shared storage solution at leading German TV production service providers, nobeo GmbH. Working closely with local channel partner, Cologne-based Speed Systems, they have installed three TerraBlock 24EX/16 and TerraBlock TX16 expandable storage systems together with a TerraBlock Hybrid24 storage system. All the TerraBlocks are connected to a switched 10 Gbit/s ingest and logging network and to an 8Gbps Fibre Channel editing network that supports the entire seven studio, outside area and post production campus where they manage all ingest, logging, service and back-up operations.
“Europe is a key market for Facilis technology and we are seeing a number of major customers opt for Facilis storage in preference to other leading vendors,” commented James McKenna. “nobeo is a good example of a large customer installation where we have been able to provide performance, reliability and operational collaboration in ways that the customer values. At IBC, we will announce further significant successes as we increase our market share across US and international markets.”
