There’s no better solution for accessibility of data than an on-prem, dedicated nearline solution. Nearline sits between online HUB Storage and offline Cloud or LTO. Because nearline data is replicated from online storage, immediate restore and even failover can be achieved for large data sets.
Facilis Technology uses standard HUB storage hardware, now with greater density of up to 1PB in each 4u enclosure, but lowers the cost by limiting the shared file system features. The functionality needed for online data sets is normally not required for nearline data, so this compromise allows our customers to enjoy a fully managed nearline system at a much lower cost than traditional online storage.
Facilis Object LTO
Using a simple drag-and-drop approach, Facilis Object LTO delivers a robust LTO tier to any shared storage environment with minimal learning curve. LTO 10 now offers 40TB per tape, and over 1PB of data can be stored in a 2u library. That’s a large monthly bill on an accessible cloud storage tier!
Since everything can be done with simple copy operations, there’s no separate interface to learn, and the library can be hosted on the Facilis HUB server itself for instant access to all production media. FastTracker MAM can automate the LTO copies and show you the status of the files, their tape cartridge and offers single-file restore or an entire project at once.

Cloud storage has become a trusted solution that can provide offsite backup on demand. Various cloud storage providers offer subscription packages that can be spun up any time, and deliver a “store now, pay later” approach.
Facilis Technology has integrated field-proven object storage software to create a turnkey tiered storage system. Using a Facilis-sourced cloud location or your own cloud account, a cache volume is accessed to upload, restore and represent cloud data on the server. Object Cloud
As an add-on to many existing Facilis servers or any newly purchased Facilis HUB Shared Storage System, Object Cloud software utilizes a small Facilis virtual volume as the disk cache for a cloud account of unlimited capacity. When cloud storage is purchased through Facilis, a yearly fee is applied and there are no additional fees regardless of how many times you access the files. Add the cloud account renewal to your Facilis Total Care support contract, and always be supported and protected!
Object LTO
Paired with a new or existing LTO tape library, Object LTO lets you use a native Facilis volume as the cache for your LTO tape storage library. Copy files to cache via simple drag-drop. After they’re successfully written to tape, the file content is flushed but still viewable in the cache. The cache is available on the server, or as a mounted volume on client desktops for immediate access to restored data. Combine LTO with the Object Cloud package and be protected locally and globally!
