Facilis has been delivering collaborative workflow for Avid facilities since 2004. First, with the Virtual Volume technology that delivered Unity-like workflow to post workgroups, then with our Shared File System Avid emulation that supplied Nexis-style bin and project locking through the 2025.12 release. Better Project Management with Alias Volumes
Facilis HUB offers more flexible ways to share data on larger file systems. Avid requires that the Avid MediaFiles exist on it’s own top-level directory, and this can be difficult when combining multiple projects on a large file system. With Alias Volumes, folders are shared to the desktop as volumes, with independent access control and permissions, so each folder-based project has it’s own Avid MediaFiles folder that works perfectly in Media Composer.Â

Unlike Nexis, Facilis offers more robust management of access control down to the file type level, with simplicity and reliability. An administrator can restrict delete on certain file types, like MXF media and Avid bins, but creating, writing and saving these file types is still allowed. An administrator can limit certain files to read-only access dynamically, so they can’t be changed, replaced or deleted, but new files can still be created in the same location. This is nearly impossible with standard NAS ACLs, and Facilis has the additional benefit of using flexible user accounts, without a requirement for network directory services. More Info
Avid Media Composer Panel
As official SDK partners with Avid, Facilis has developed the FastTracker Media Composer Panel (release Q3 2026). Search across projects with numerous search terms, on transcription and AI data, browse indexed locations and find the exact shot you need for the project. The FastTracker panel leverages Avid Media Composer 3rd party software integration to import clips to bins with marker data that appears on the timeline, import custom metadata for searching within the project, and import as linked or transcoded media on the fly. FastTracker Creates Avid MXF Proxies for Offline and RemoteÂ
FastTracker Asset Management works as a complimentary software to Avid, allowing the editor to search, audition, and drag into the bin as a linked or imported asset. In addition, FastTracker can create 720 and 1080 Avid-native DNxHD (OP1A and Op-Atom) proxies directly into the Avid Media Files folder. FastTracker maintains the link to the high res sources in it’s database, for easy retrieval through the search functions.
