Our commitment to ethical business practices forms the cornerstone of our success, safeguarding our reputation in both the industry and the community. At Facilis Technology Inc., our corporate culture revolves around integrity in managing and operating our business. We prioritize honesty, fair dealing, and ethical conduct.
The following Code of Ethics/Ethical Guidelines outline our expectations for employees, officers, and directors. While it may not cover every ethical scenario, it serves as a fundamental guide. Compliance with this Code is a prerequisite for employment. This Code complements our existing policies and procedures, including those detailed in employee handbook(s) and other periodically issued statements.
Our commitments encompass:
- Pursuing excellence across all facets of our business globally.
- Upholding ethical and responsible conduct in all operations.
- Respecting the rights of individuals.
- Demonstrating environmental responsibility.
This Code aligns with internationally recognized labor standards and guidance, including the International Labour Organization (ILO)’s core conventions, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights.
Manufacturers and vendors associated with Facilis products are expected to share these commitments. We mandate that manufacturers of Facilis components adhere to the following standards:
- Child Labor:
Manufacturers must refrain from employing individuals below the age of 16 or the local minimum age for employment or the age for completing compulsory education, whichever is higher.
- Involuntary Labor:
Manufacturers must not engage in any form of forced or involuntary labor, including prison, bonded, indentured, or human trafficking.
- Coercion and Harassment:
Employees must be treated with dignity and respect, prohibiting corporal punishment, threats of violence, or any form of harassment. Facilis expects manufacturers to annually train personnel on harassment and relevant laws.
- Nondiscrimination:
Manufacturers must not discriminate in hiring or employment practices based on race, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, pregnancy, political opinion, or disability.
- Association:
Manufacturers should respect employees’ rights to associate, organize, and bargain collectively without penalty or interference.
- Health and Safety:
Manufacturers must provide a safe and healthy workplace, complying with all applicable laws and regulations. Adequate provisions for women in connection with pregnancy, childbirth, and nursing should be ensured.
- Compensation:
Wages should meet employees’ basic needs, complying with all applicable wage and hour laws and regulations, ensuring equal pay and benefits for equal work.
- Hours of Work:
Except in extraordinary circumstances, manufacturers should not require employees to work beyond the limits set by local law. Overtime should be compensated at legally required rates.
- Protection of the Environment:
Compliance with environmental laws and regulations is mandatory. Manufacturers are encouraged to use resources sustainably and minimize greenhouse gas emissions. Our internal goals are to continually reduce power consumption in our day to day operations and in the design and build of our products. Also, Facilis is committed to recycling materials in a responsible manner.
- Animal Ethical Considerations:
In the production of Facilis Product, ethical considerations must be maintained throughout the value chain. The Animal Welfare Act (AWA) was passed in 1966. This act licenses dealers, exhibitors and breeders of animals, regulates research facilities that use animals, sets standards for the humane care and treatment of animals, and regulates the transportation of animals. The Act has been amended multiple times adding further protections for animals covered by the Act.
The AWA specifically exempts birds, mice, rats, amphibians and reptiles used in research as well as agricultural animals that are used for agricultural production.
11. Ethical Standards:
Bribes, kickbacks, or any unlawful or improper payments, in cash or kind, are strictly prohibited.
- Other Laws:
Manufacturers must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to manufacture, pricing, sale, and distribution of merchandise.
- Monitoring and Compliance:
Manufacturers must authorize Facilis and its designated agents to engage in monitoring activities, including unannounced on-site inspections and reviews of documentation.
- Publication:
Manufacturers should take steps to communicate this Code to employees, including prominently posting it in the local language and ensuring accessibility.
