Unique Features of Facilis Shared File System
Smart Access
Rules
Set up read or write permission on project-based folder structure with intuitive templates. Protect your critical assets from deletion or change, whether unintentional or malicious. Maintain application access to directory structure while guarding against any unauthorized access. Audit all user activity, and set up recycle rules for important project files.
WANLink
Remote Access
Cloud and VPN are the go-to solutions for remote access, but they both have serious workflow limitations, complexity and cost. You own the storage, why not find a fast way to access it? WANLink is a unique direct-access protocol that requires no VPN, is encrypted, multi-authenticated, and uses the same permissions and access control as on-prem users.
FASTCache
Accelerator
FASTCache is an unlimited, non-volatile local cache on any client workstation. Unlike normal network caching, all cached data persists through reboot. Upon reconnect your data is still cached, making all your file access faster. Combine FASTCache with WANLink and design a simple and effective remote access workflow for all your home-based editors.
Unmatched Client
Data Rates
Because of the design of the Shared File System, a single client can access up to 5GB/sec on a Mac workstation 100Gb Ethernet link. SMB shares reach their maximum at around 2.5-3GB/sec. For Windows, there is no protocol with the efficiency of Fibre Channel, and we offer up to 64Gb link speeds to the desktop for the ultimate 8K finishing workflow.
Block-mode
Fibre Channel
For some platforms, there is no protocol with better speed and efficiency than Fibre Channel. The Facilis Shared File System supports up to 64Gb link speeds to the desktop seamlessly alongside Ethernet for the ultimate 8K finishing workflow. Read the white paper here: Fibre Channel Connectivity in Modern Content Creation Workflows.
Remote
Management
Administrators can perform all the functions of a user at the client desktop, with an identical Client Console interface for each attached system. Without launching any software on the client workstation, an Admin can change the login account and client settings, mount and unmount storage volumes, and change the preferred connection address.
Server Discovery &
Path Failover
The Client Console software discovers every path to every server on the same IP range as any local network connection. If there’s a problem with the preferred connection, it uses the other discovered paths for failover of connectivity. A client workstation can even failover from Fibre Channel to Ethernet connectivity with no change in access or permissions.
Client Bandwith
Prioritization
We build all our systems to withstand the demands of large 4K editing environments, but sometimes bottlenecks appear in the network. For this we have bandwidth priority. All clients have full speed until the server detects a slowdown in the network. When the feature kicks in, workstations set to high priority are queued up first and get the best speeds.
